How to verify a suspected scam safely

Method: Do not paste passwords, full account numbers, identity documents, recovery codes, or sensitive message content into this page. Record only the minimum details needed to make a decision.

Verify an unexpected request without using its links or contacts

Write down the request without acting on it

Describe the claim in a few words. Do not paste private message content or credentials.

What changed or created pressure?

Verify each fact somewhere else

Use a saved app, statement, contract, card, or official site found independently.

Identity

Did a known channel confirm who is making the request?

Purpose

Did that channel confirm the exact action, amount, and reason?

Destination

Did it confirm where the money, information, or access should go?

Decide whether the request is verified

Do not act yet

Identity, purpose, and destination have not all been confirmed independently.

A verified identity does not automatically verify the payment destination or purpose. All three should match: who is asking, what is requested, and where money or information will go.

What still needs attention

  • Confirm identity through a known channel.
  • Confirm the purpose and amount.
  • Confirm the destination.

What a matched request does not prove

A matched identity, purpose, and destination reduce uncertainty but do not guarantee that a transaction is safe or required. Follow current provider policy and your normal approval process. If money or credentials were already sent, contact the official provider through a known channel without waiting for this worksheet.
